Tournamizer ("we," "us," "our," or "the App") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application on iOS and Android devices, and it applies to users worldwide, including in the European Union / European Economic Area ("EU/EEA") and United Kingdom.
By downloading, accessing, or using Tournamizer, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Tournamizer
Email: info@tournamizer.com
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address to set up and manage your profile, and to allow you to log in across devices.
2.2 Location Data
With your permission, we may collect location data to provide features such as finding nearby tournaments or venues, or displaying relevant local content. You can enable or disable location access at any time through your device settings.
2.3 Photos, Camera, and Microphone
With your permission, the App may access your camera, microphone, and photo library — for example, to let you upload a profile picture, capture tournament photos, or record video content. We only access these when you actively choose to use a related feature.
2.4 Payment Information
If you make in-app purchases or subscribe to premium features, payment is processed through Apple's App Store billing system or Google Play billing system. We do not collect, view, or store your full payment card details — these are handled entirely by Apple and Google in accordance with their own privacy and security policies.
2.5 Usage and Analytics Data
We use Firebase (a service provided by Google) to collect analytics and crash-report data, such as device type, operating system version, app usage patterns, and crash logs. This helps us understand how the App is used and fix bugs. This data is generally aggregated and not used to personally identify you.
For EU/EEA and UK users: Firebase Analytics is only activated after you provide explicit opt-in consent via an in-app consent prompt, in accordance with the ePrivacy Directive. You may withdraw this consent at any time through the App's privacy settings, and core app functionality will not be conditioned on giving this consent.
2.6 Website Analytics (tournamizer.com)
Our website uses Google Analytics 4 (a service provided by Google) to understand how visitors find and use the site. It collects information such as the pages you view, the site or search engine that referred you, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type. It stores this in cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_<property-id>).
This is separate from the Firebase analytics described above, which applies to the App. Google Analytics runs only on the website.
For EU/EEA and UK visitors: no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent until you accept them in the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline the banner, or ignore it, nothing is stored. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner. Withdrawing also deletes the analytics cookies already stored in your browser.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA and UK Users)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we only process your personal data where we have a valid legal basis to do so. We rely on the following bases:
| Data Category | Legal Basis |
|---|---|
| Account information (name, email) | Performance of a contract (to provide the App's core services to you) |
| Location data | Consent (granted via device permission) |
| Camera, microphone, photo access | Consent (granted via device permission, given at point of use) |
| Payment information | Performance of a contract, processed by Apple/Google as separate controllers |
| Analytics/crash data (Firebase) | Consent (for EU/EEA/UK users, via in-app consent prompt) |
| Website analytics (Google Analytics) | Consent (for EU/EEA/UK visitors, via the website's consent banner) |
| Fraud prevention, legal compliance | Legitimate interest / legal obligation |
Where we rely on consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide core app features (tournament creation, participation, location-based results, media uploads)
- Process in-app purchases and subscriptions (via Apple/Google billing)
- Monitor and improve app performance and fix technical issues
- Communicate with you about your account or updates to the App
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services and International Data Transfers
Tournamizer uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — for analytics and crash reporting (EU/EEA/UK users: only after consent). See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google) — for website analytics on tournamizer.com (EU/EEA/UK visitors: only after consent via the website's consent banner). See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — for processing payments and subscriptions, acting as independent data controllers for that data. See Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA or UK, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we rely on legally recognized transfer mechanisms to safeguard your data, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. You may request more information about these safeguards by contacting us at info@tournamizer.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:
- Account data: retained for as long as your account is active, and deleted (or anonymized) within a reasonable period after account deletion, unless longer retention is required by law.
- Analytics/crash data: retained per Firebase's default retention settings (typically up to 14 months), or as configured by us.
- Website analytics data (Google Analytics): retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics (by default, up to 14 months).
- Payment records: retained by Apple/Google per their own retention policies; we do not separately store full payment data.
7. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your account and associated personal data directly within the App through the account settings menu. Deleting your account will permanently remove your profile information and associated data from our systems, except where we are required to retain certain data for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
If you have trouble deleting your account through the App, you may contact us at info@tournamizer.com to request deletion manually.
9. Your Privacy Rights
9.1 For EU/EEA and UK Users (GDPR)
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request confirmation of, and access to, the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and have it transferred to another controller where technically feasible.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw previously given consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint — file a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your data protection rights have been violated. A list of EU supervisory authorities is available here. UK users may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@tournamizer.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally one month under GDPR, extendable in complex cases).
9.2 For Other Users
Depending on your location, you may have similar rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@tournamizer.com.
10. Children's Privacy
Tournamizer is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction, including 16 in some EU member states for consent to information society services), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Where changes are material — particularly for EU/EEA/UK users — we will seek renewed consent where legally required. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
